Adjunct Faculty Member, Department of Psychiatry, University of Toronto

John Trainor retired as Director of the Community Support and Research Unit at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in 2013 and is currently an Adjunct Faculty member in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto.

Mr. Trainor has been involved in international development projects for over 12 years, including in the Baltic States, Eastern Europe, Brazil and Sri Lanka. He chaired the Advisory Board of the Mental Health Initiative of the Open Society Foundations and served as a member of its Global Health Advisory Committee.

He spent four years as Senior Policy Advisor in mental health with the Government of Ontario, and many years chairing the National Mental Health Services Work Group of the Canadian Mental Health Association. Mr. Trainor recently completed two years of work with the Ontario Consent and Capacity Board.
