Karen Omelchuk, MBA

 

Director of Mental Health and Substance Abuse, Interior Health Authority

Karen Omelchuk is a senior leader with over 20 years’ experience in the health care industry. She is a Director of Operations for Mental Health and Substance Use at Interior Health, a regional health authority in British Columbia. In this role she has direct oversight for the delivery of services in both community and acute care. Formerly, she led Interior Health’s Mental Health and Substance Use Network and was responsible for the collaborative strategic planning, monitoring and quality oversight of mental health and substance use services across Interior Health. 

With a strong background in health research, knowledge translation, strategy, quality improvement and planning, Ms. Omelchuk has led major planning and change initiatives in mental health and substance use, rural health, chronic pain, and the palliative approach. She has also held senior operational administrative roles in Primary Care as well as Long-Term Care.

Ms. Omelchuk received her MBA from the University of Calgary and recently completed an Advanced Diploma in Gerontology. She is a Canadian Foundation for Healthcare Improvement EXTRA Fellow and a Certified Health Executive (CHE).
