Canadians Most Likely to Receive a Diagnosis of Anxiety or Depression

Key Findings:

  • 24% of women (compared to 18% of men) indicate they have a diagnosis of anxiety; similar results were seen with a diagnosis of depression with 25% of women compared to 19% of men.

  • Respondents aged 18-29 displayed a significant increase in anxiety levels from the onset of the pandemic and this study. 27% of Canadians between the ages of 18 and 34 report being diagnosed with anxiety before or during the pandemic (similar to depression at 26%).

  • 40% of nurses have reported that their levels of anxiety have increased since the beginning of the pandemic, 30% have said the same of their levels of depression.
