Funded Research Projects
MHRC is committed to advancing or co-funding research that has the potential for deep and broad impact in the lives of Canadians, and that bridges the gap between research and practice.
We achieve this by partnering with like-minded organizations and funding promising research across the country through each of our two funding streams:
Seed-Funding
1.5 - 2 years I $50,000 - $150,000
Grants and Awards
Our 1.5-2 year grants and awards are awarded to experienced academic researchers and community researchers/service providers collaborating to address gaps in community mental health and addressing community needs.
Early Career Funding
6 - 12 months I $15,000 - $60,000
Studentships
Our six-month studentships are awarded to early career researchers enrolled in a Masters, PhD, or post-graduate College program to conduct community mental health research projects under the co-supervision of an academic supervisor and a community partner.
Fellowships
Our one-year fellowships are awarded to early career researchers, who have recently completed their PhDs and currently working as post doctoral fellows to conduct community mental health research projects under the co-supervision of an academic supervisor and a community partner.
Our funded projects are designed to meaningfully involve both academia and community at every stage, with the authentic engagement of people with lived experience.
Our Seed Funding Stream supports collaborations between academic researchers and community-based researchers or service providers, while our Early Career Funding Stream pairs emerging researchers with both academic and community supervisors.
Together, these approaches help the project maintain academic rigor, while also addressing gaps in community mental health and respond to community needs.
