Job Description:
Mental Health Research Canada (MHRC) funds innovative mental health research that is driven by the needs of our stakeholders and that has the potential for deep and broad impact. Our work supports the 1 in 5 Canadians who will personally experience a mental health related problem or illness. We are looking for a dynamic, innovative and proactive professional whose passion for research can shine at our organization. Please note that, due to COVID-19, all employees are working remotely for the foreseeable future.
Reporting jointly to the Research Coordinator and the Director of Communications, the Communications Officer will provide communications support to advance MHRC’s research and funding initiatives. The successful candidate will work alongside the MHRC team to create and post content regularly on Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn to highlight MHRC’s initiatives and raise brand awareness; interact with followers and stakeholders across the three platforms (example, by retweeting); as well as monitor and evaluate new platforms. The Communications Officer will also help by updating the websites and proofreading, as needed. Fluency in French is preferred.
Job Requirements:
Enrolled in, or recently graduated from, a post-secondary program at an accredited university or college in marketing, journalism, communications, public relations, or a related field;
Advanced skills using social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn) in a marketing capacity.
Experience with Canva, SproutSocial, and Google Analytics.
Experience with Squarespace is an asset.
Advanced computer skills that include extensive familiarity with Microsoft Office programs;
Excellent oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills.
Fluency in French is an asset.
Access to a Windows (non-Mac) computer is needed.
