Uncovering the Link between Neurocognitive Functioning and Suicide Attempt

Funded in collaboration with Mitacs and the Knowledge Institute for Child & Youth Mental Health and Addictions, Chloe’s research aims to develop an effective suicide attempt screening algorithm for high-risk youth. Results will inform a minimal dataset of information that services should collect to implement this algorithm in suicide prevention for high-risk patients, and associated clinical implementation training and guidelines.

Using data from the CAMH Toronto Adolescent and Youth Cohort Study, the interactions between executive and psychological functioning that predict youth suicide attempt will be explored, testing a hypothesized non-linear association. Chloe will also pilot a suicide attempt screening algorithm at CAMH, aiming to improve early identification and intervention for at-risk youth.
