Workplace Mental Health Postdoctoral Fellowships Fall 2024

Deadline: Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at 11.59pm ET

MHRC is proud to partner with iA Financial Group and Mitacs on this funding opportunity for post-doctoral fellows across the country to work on a workplace mental health research project with their academic supervisor and a partner organization.

The successful applicant will be awarded $60,000 for a 1-year term; funds will be paid directly to the fellow’s academic institution and held by the fellow’s supervisor.

The project would begin in September 2024.

This jointly funded internship is part of MHRC’s 2024-2025 Fellowship cycle, where fellows share their time between academic institutions and community service providers, tying together their research with the needs of the end-users — the community and people with lived experience. MHRC aims to drive systemic change by encouraging the adoption of effective, research-informed, and client-centric approaches to mental health treatment.

Eligible applicants must:

  1. Hold Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status;

  2. Occupy a post-doctoral position at a Canadian academic institution;

  3. Have completed a PhD within five years of the project start date*;

  4. Conduct a mental health research project in collaboration with both an academic supervisor and an eligible partner organization**, with preference for projects addressing unique needs of diverse and/or vulnerable populations in Canada;

  5. NOT have current or past employment ties and any conflicts of interest with the named partner organization.

* Fellows who have had a break in their career due to military service, illness, or family leave may be considered exceptions and must be approved in advance of application.

** If you are interested by MHRC’s work, you are welcome to choose us as your partner organization. Please research well about us and the work we do in the area of workplace mental health. You can find more information in link 1 and link 2.

All projects must have a clear potential for impact to studied population and integrate the insights of people with lived experience into each stage of their project.
